Arriving by train
Wrexham Football Club is served by perhaps one of the most convenient railway networks in the United Kingdom Wrexham. But always check return journeys – especially for midweek games! Wrexham General is a mere five-minute walk from the away end and a little further in the opposite direction is the town centre. Check out the Pre-match pub guide. This is the main line for trains from Birmingham, Chester, and connections to Crewe and Shrewsbury. The lesser-used Wrexham Central Station located in the town centre provides a service running to Bidston via Shotton and Neston.
The nearby Racecourse floodlights at the back of the station point the way for the first time visitor, with the nearby Turf pub and a petrol station on hand for refreshments close to the away supporters' turnstiles etc. Walking in the opposite direction in to the town centre you will find an abundance of pubs, restaurants and food outlets suiting every budget. Wrexham General Station is managed by Arriva Trains Wales and has an hourly train service between Chester and Shrewsbury and every other hour to Holyhead in the north and Cardiff or Birmingham to the south, from 05.30am until midnight Monday-Saturday with a reduced service running on a Sunday. Chester and Holyhead bound trains depart from Platform 2 and Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Cardiff bound trains depart from platform 1. Borderlands services, operating hourly throughout the day and a limited evening service Monday to Saturday, depart from Platform 4. Disabled access to platforms 1 and 2 can be found at the main entrance. There is also a ramp on Mold Road which gives access to Platform 4. Wrexham General direct services to:- ■Chester ■Holyhead and the North Wales Coast ■Shrewsbury ■Birmingham - New Street ■Birmingham - International (for Birmingham Airport and NEC) ■Cardiff ■London (Euston)
