The Racecourse Ground

The total capacity for the stadium currently stands at 15,500 with 3,800 seated places for visiting supporters.

The ground has seen extensive work and improvement in recent years, leaving the Kop the only terraced part of the ground.

The Kop was finished shortly after the Second World War.  Floodlights were installed in January 1957.  The record attendance at The Racecourse is 34,445 v Manchester United, FA Cup 4th rd. 26th January 1957.  A condensed history of Wrexham AFC can be found here.

The Kop

In 1978-1979 the Kop held a safety certificate to accommodate 15,000 supporters, and came close to reaching that capacity for an international game against Russia. The Kop presently holds a safety certificate for 4,500 spectators.

The more recent ground re-developments have seen the completion of the Price Griffiths Stand and seating to the old terraced areas below the Sainsbury’s and Eric Roberts Builders (away supporters) Stands.  The Price Griffiths Stand, which was completed in 1999, has a capacity for 3,500, disabled facilities, bar facilities, and corporate sponsorship boxes.

The Mold Road Stand

The Mold Road StandCompleted for the start of the 1999/2000 season the Mold Road Stand has a capacity of 3500 seats.
The stand contains the ‘Changing Rooms’ restaurant (bookings advisable),8 corporate
sponsorship boxes, television gantry and police match day control room.
The stand provides an excellent view of the pitch and it must also be noted that it is also popular with some of Wrexham’s most vociferous supporters – especially for a local ‘derby’ or cup game.
Beneath the stand is a bar licensed for match days and several snack bars.
The Mold Road Stand has 45 disabled places (see information below)

The Sainsbury's Stand

The Sainsbury's StandFormerly known as the Yale Stand this stand has a capacity of 4,200 seats contained in two tiers.  The lower tier was previously terracing known as the Paddock.

The original stand was completed in 1972 and became all-seated after general ground redevelopment in 1999 with help from Sport Lot and the Welsh Development Agency.

The Sainsbury’s Stand houses the club offices, club shop and the Centenary Club which offers an extensive menu on match days and bar facilities.  Fans may also purchase either match-day tickets or season tickets for the Executive seats which are adjacent to the area allocated for directors and V.I.P guests etc

The Eric Roberts Builders Stand (Visiting Supporters)

The Eric Roberts Builders Stand was formerly known as The Border Stand – named after a local brewery.

The brewing industry, for which the town was famous worldwide (the UK’s first lager was brewed in Wrexham) has long disappeared although ‘Wrexham Lager’ brewed by Carlsberg Breweries Ltd is still available in selected outlets.

Not many visiting supporters would contest that this stand provides one of the best spectator views of the action in the lower divisions.
The Away end is an all seated, fully covered stand. Situated behind the goal, the stand seats 3,800 spectators and provides the away fans with an excellent view close to the heart of the action on the pitch.

Also, much to the annoyance of Wrexham supporters, the Eric Roberts Builders Stand has excellent acoustics due to its canopy roof. For a view from the visiting supporters' stand please click the two pictures below.
